Day 15 - New Orleans

On June 28th, we hopped on the shuttle and took the boys into the French Quarter.  We headed straight for Cafe Du Monde so we could sample the tasty beignets I've been hearing so much about.  We were a bit put off by the line down the block, but we decided to be patient and wait along with everyone else.  It was totally worth the wait... Mmmm mmm... We then wandered around the various streets, checking out the local artists.  Jim bought a water color to add to our collection.

We took a carriage ride and enjoyed the local stories and history colorfully presented by our driver, who has been giving these tours for something like 35 years!  I can't remember his name, but the horse's name was Sugar Daddy:)  The boys got to sit up front with him, so they thought they were hot shots...

We had lunch at the French Market and sat outside while we ate.  The boys predictably had pizza but Jim and I enjoyed more local fare.  The weather was very hot so we were dragging by the time we met the shuttle for our return trip. Once we got back to the campground, we hit the pool again (and I did laundry... glamorous, huh???) :)

One thing I forgot to mention is the electrical storms we had last night and this morning.  We don't get many in Oregon so it was quite a sight.  The boys even saw lightening bolts so they thought that was cool.  Faith was not so thrilled with all the noise.
